De Rookie

Class project / MAGAZINE June, 2023

We created a magazine focused on the world of video games, paying close attention to its aesthetics and writing style to connect with its audience. This production aims to capture the attention of both its loyal audience and those unfamiliar with this field. To achieve this, we carefully design the layout, incorporating high-quality illustrations and external articles to enhance the aesthetic and dynamics of the magazine.

De Rookie owes its name to the nickname often given to novice players in sports or esports competitions. Therefore, this magazine aims to introduce the world of video games to those who are unfamiliar with it or simply want to learn more.

El escarabajo

Class project / FAIRY TAIL April, 2023

This project combines both illustration and editorial application. For this, each of us was assigned a popular story that we had to illustrate with our own designs.

As you can see, my story is Hans Christian Andersen’s Beetle. I portrayed this little character as a Don Juan.

As a requirement, we had to update the tales to the 21st century. Since this story is pretty timeless, I decided to sprinkle in some modern elements like an iPod, a necktie, some Crocs… That way, from insects to humans, everyone gets to enjoy the perks of today.

mell Velvet

Class project / CHARACTER DESIGN January, 2024

Let me introduce you to this cute little fennec, who happens to be my design proposal for a street food YouTube channel called YUMMY. This mascot embodies all the brand values and is the first of a series of proposals to bring out more animals combined with food.

Mell Velvet was born in the high ovens of a pastry master, surrounded by her pastry siblings. She embarked on a journey around the world seeking new and fun friends during her gastronomic adventures.

“It’s never too late for a snack.”

Lou Berry is a young frog who has hopped out of her syrup and pancakes pond in search of a new home. Along the way, she met Mell and decided to accompany her until they find the best place to settle.

Jax Noodle has been bored living in his village for a while; he was destined to be his father’s successor, the chief of the tribe. But his family has advised him to travel with Mell and Lou to become a wise leader with knowledge of the world.

Back to future

Class project / POSTER December, 2023

For this assignment, we had to recreate a movie poster but in a cartoon style. To do this, we had to research references, in my case, Maddie C.

Experimenting with caricaturing and exaggerating proportions has yielded some really interesting results among the submissions.

Luis Posada

Class project / INFOGRAPHIC  October, 2024

“What’s in the mind of…?” is a project where we were tasked with creating an infographic about a film director or actor. In my case, since I enjoy watching good and bad dubbing videos with my friends, I made mine about Luis Posada.

Luis Posada is a Spanish voice actor who has accompanied us since childhood with the voices of Jack Sparrow and Ace Ventura. His passion for his craft comes through in every take, which is why I used a recorder to represent his work.

We can separate the sections by the actor and their movies:

Jim Carrey: The Mask, The Truman Show, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Liar Liar, Ace Ventura 2, Dumb and Dumber, and Batman Forever

Johnny Depp: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lone Ranger, Murder on the Orient Express, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Into the Woods, Dark Shadows, and Rango

Leonardo DiCaprio: Django Unchained, Titanic, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Gangs of New York, The Revenant, Shutter Island, The Man in the Iron Mask, and Catch Me If You Can

Adrien Brody: The Pianist, King Kong (2005), Asteroid City, and Predators

Owen Wilson: Zoolander, Night at the Museum, and Wonder

Guy Pearce: Memento, Alien: Covenant, The King’s Speech, and Equals

Others: His first role in Gremlins as Zach Galligan, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda, Rango, and Megamind

Chucky

Class project / HALLOWEEN POSTER  October, 2023

For this project, each student had to create a poster featuring a classic movie villain along with an element, using the double exposure technique.

ANIMA-TION

YUMMY

Class project / BRANDING TV February, 2024

You might have come across this name in another one of my previous works, but whatever, I can refresh your memory. Yummy is a YouTube channel about street food, and I’ve created its identity and graphic resources. That’s why a graphic application of bumpers, bugs, descriptive texts, grids… was necessary.

This project aimed for a youthful and lively aesthetic, but not something overly childish or comedic. The channel aims for its audience to feel engaged and immersed in a variety of eye-catching images and immersive kitchen sounds.

Yummy follows a series of videos designed to grab viewers’ attention and keep them hooked at any time of the day.

Color Chaos

Class project / MUSIC VIDEO June, 2024

This is one of the biggest tasks I’ve ever taken on. First and foremost, we reached out to an artist to use one of their songs for the project. So, huge thanks to Unlike Pluto, a highly recognized artist with a truly unique style, who infuses each song with a message or reflection. I chose the song ‘Color Chaos’ for this project, which talks about the challenges faced by all of us in the artistic world who work with more creative and subjective ideas. That’s why our doubts and insecurities tend to grow and constantly haunt us.

We created a layout that gathers info about the artist, research on the music genre, and a study of their musical and artistic influence. Based on our analysis, we then started to develop the video’s aesthetics and concept, created a narrative, and drew the storyboard.

And finally, after several months of planning the foundation, we spent the rest of the year on production. This project has helped me develop my personal style and gain confidence in myself. I wanted to create a unique and personal piece of work, paying close attention to the aesthetics with its shots and resources. I used a series of techniques from the world of cinema and even from shows and resources that have influenced my design style.

Class project / EXTRAS  2022-2024

Here are some individual projects that I found interesting and curious, from small class exercises to a Christmas video or a quick GIF.

CORPO-RATE IDENTITY

ETSIIT

Class project / CORPORATE IDENTITY MANUAL June, 2022

While studying computer engineering and graphic design at the same time, we got an assignment to create a corporate identity for an existing establishment. This way, we were tackling a situation close to real work life. So, I decided to get in touch with the assistant director of the University of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications (ETSIIT).

I was able to apply the sections for apps and merchandise by taking into account the real needs of the students since I was also one of them.

TYPO-GRAPHY

gluttony

Class project / TYPOGRAPHY June, 2022

This script typography aims to be a solid font for text titles, showing ambition and dynamism through its thick and thin strokes.

It almost looks like a font meant for creative or even musical designs. But I don’t want to limit its potential applications—everyone should try and experiment with its possible uses.

PACKA-GING

Doritos x cartoon

Class project / BAG OF CHIPS June, 2022

During class, there was a draw for potato chip brands, or tortilla chips in my case, and a style to follow. As you can guess, my project revolves around Doritos and the cartoon style. I wanted to avoid making a Dorito with legs, to be honest.

I did some research on classic cartoons that had a more radical and rebellious vibe, which reminded me of the values of Doritos. I also discovered that Doritos Tex-Mex, the originals, were created in Disneyland, so I could relate them to the classic Mickey Mouse.

After a series of super fun and edgy sketches, I decided to go with this proposal: a Mickey Mouse addicted to Doritos who refuses to give you the last one, threatening with a knife.
